We’re celebrating after the AA upgraded our guest accommodation to five silver stars, an accreditation for accommodation offering superior quality and high standards of housekeeping.
The AA‘s professional inspectors carry out assessments by registering as a mystery guest. They then discuss their assessment with the business and provide feedback. They award their star rating based on the assessment and may also award rosettes for the quality of the food offered.
The AA Guest Accommodation Scheme inspector who visited 1861 send us a report along with our rating. They told us we provide “a memorable experience” with a “natural approach to hosting guests” who stay in our rooms, with “excellent levels of hospitality”.
The inspector also mentioned the care we put into “maintaining the property to such a high standard”, our well-designed bedrooms, and “diligent” standard of cleanliness.
We have six rooms with en-suite bathrooms, all named after flowers: Snowdrop; Bluebell; Daffodil; Forget-Me-Not; Primrose; Rose. You can see images of them and find out more about them on our ‘Stay’ page.
We’ve also retained our two AA rosettes for culinary excellence. The inspector praised our use of homegrown and local food and said the menu “offers a number of tempting dishes that makes choosing dishes an enjoyable challenge”.
